The first part of every new year, we start with a designated time of prayer and fasting.  I was thinking about our January calendar and looking through Daniel’s experience:

Daniel 9:3 “So I turned to the Lord God and pleaded with him in prayer and pettion, in fasting…”

Daniel 9:20 “While I was speaking and praying, confessing my sin and the sin of my people…”

Daniel 10:2-3 “at that time I, Daniel, mourned for three weeks.  I ate no choice food; no meat or wine touched my lips; and I used no lotions at all until the three weeks were over.”

Three specific directives stood out:

SEASON – Daniel focused a time to listen in prayer and read the Scriptures…

STRUCTURE – Daniel took three weeks for fasting from fine foods and meat.

SACRIFICE – Daniel laid aside some comforts and conveniences to focus more on God.

Can I challenge you to join me and Daniel and start this new year with a SEASON OF PRAYER?  Findign your STRUCTURE is really between you and God. Any SACRIFICE that help you turn your focus from yourself toward God will draw you closer to HIM.

Daniel had some incredible encounters; I believe you will too!
